PROUD LGBTQ+ WOMEN BOOK
Towards the end of last year Brittany Wheaton [@THESUPERHEROTEACHER] and Melissa Jeltema messaged me and asked if I would like to be a part of a book they were working on. I loved everything about the project. What an honor it was to be among so many talented women in our community.
Proud Women is a coffee table style book that features more than 100 fierce, brave women in the LGBTQ+ community and their stories. Our goal was to give a group of diverse women a platform to share their story and inspire others to have the courage to be uniquely themselves.
Each woman featured in the book was asked a series of questions about their life as a woman in the LGBTQ+ community. They vulnerably shared their perspective in a way that sheds light on the challenges and courage it takes to overcome the obstacles they've faced.
Our hope is that readers will connect with at least one of the women in this book. Whether it’s allowing their story to resonate with them on a personal level or finding inspiration through their Instagram account, the goal is for our audience to have a positive, empowering experience.
Every story is paired with a unique illustration by Milka Sukno and Nancy Chalmers.
Here is a little from my section in the book:
HOW DID YOUR CAREER TAKE OFF?
In 2013, I had a wedding go viral. Over the course of two weeks, this posted reached over 272,00 people, in more than 200 countries/territories, and had over 81.000 view in just one day alone. When that wedding went viral, so did I. You can’t take that back. Shortly after that I made a huge decision in my career to market myself as an LGBTQ+ photographer. A few years later I laughed my corporate agency, Steph Grant Studios: a global, full-service media agency operated by a powerhouse team of LGBTQ+ creatives… each doing big things to impact social change.
